I am so sorry everyone. If you havenât noticed, this list is a little shorter than usual. In the interest of full transparency, we literally only watched Younger for a full week. No breaks. Weâve been completely detached from reality. I no longer have any idea whatâs going on IRL. Is Joe Biden still president? You know what, donât answer that. Iâd like to forever stay in my Younger bliss. Nothing can take this away from me. Glad we cleared that up! So letâs get down to the meat and potatoes (or eggplant lasagna if youâre Maggie omg Younger humor). I am forever indebted to the member of the Candle Coven who encouraged us to watch this precious gem of a show. Mathematically, itâs perfect for us. Itâs basically Emily in Paris, Darren Starâs more recent masterpiece, but itâs 2015 Brooklyn and everyone is a Broadway juggernaut or Hilary Duff. Just like in EiP, men are accommodating and hot, straight women are gay men and lesbians are basically in charge - this is what we mean when we say âworld peace.â I could honestly write a thesis about how incredible I think this show is, but alas, this is What We Watched and I must keep it tight. This show has some of THE BEST comedic performances I have ever seen. Itâs up there with like Catherine OâHara level good. Molly Kate Bernard, who plays millennial PR expert Lauren Heller, is a comedic genius on the level of John Early in Search Party - every single expression she makes is laugh worthy. And MIRIAM SHORE. OMG MIRIAM SHORE. THE RANGE THIS WOMAN HAS. And donât even get me started on Sutton Foster. This woman doesnât even remotely look 26, but nobody cares because Sutton Foster is SO GOOD. I AM IN LOVE WITH ALL OF THESE CHARACTERS! 7 seasons of pure bliss. We are literally going to restart the series immediately because I am already feeling withdrawal symptoms.

We FINALLY finished Younger with enough time to squeeze in Poor Things before watching it not win best picture at Sundayâs Oscars. I was definitely prepared for this movie to be another that falls in the category of âmen and their ideas.â I heard the name Yorgos and my brain went âoh another one of those Del Toros.â But then I remembered that Yorgos is a big olâ weirdo and made movies like The Killing of a Sacred Deer (with OG creepy Barry Keoghan), The Lobster, and The Favourite - all movies I enjoyed! Ok so back to Poor Things. Itâs an absolute visual delight - the COSTUMES, the never ending hair, the set decoration. There were a handful of times where I could pinpoint the actual painting being referenced - very fun for me! But I think what really sold this movie for me, and what honestly prevented it from potentially being cringe, was Emma Stoneâs performance. I mean, she literally just won another Oscar for it, and I must say it is well deserved. It was honestly the performance of a lifetime, and possibly one of the funnest parts I can think of playing for an actor. The concept is quite unsettling - Emmaâs Bella Baxter has her brain replaced with HER BABYâS. Yes you read that right. This movie could also be Yorgosâ explorations of making the most unnerving concepts digestible in an attempt to point out one glaring reality - MISOGYNY. This movieâs like art school Barbie and itâs great. Two words - furious jumping.

]]>Ok so I was very pleasantly surprised with this one! Written by the prolific Diablo Cody and directed by Zelda Williams, daughter of the late Robin, Lisa Frankenstein follows Lisa (Kathryn Newton), a high school girl in the 80s who goes on a murderous rampage with her reanimated cemetery bust boyfriend, played by Cole Sprouse - the Riverdale one (not to be confused with the honey beer one). If you listen to/watch our podcast, youâre probably aware of my feelings about the movie Jenniferâs Body and Diablo Cody in general. Long story short, sheâs not my favorite. But regardless of my long held feelings about Cody, I approached this movie with the most open of minds. Especially considering this movie also represents the feature directorial debut of Zelda Williams, someone who was born into industry status (aka the eponymous nepo baby). I donât really get why people get so riled up by the existence of nepo babies, itâs not their fault they just want to get in on the fambly biz. If my daddy was Mrs. Doubtfire do you honestly think Iâd be like âyaknow I think my calling really is QUICKBOOKS.â NO! I would IMMEDIATELY be getting into Harvey Fiersteinâs makeup chair and demand full prosthetics! That being said, it is pretty annoying when nepo babies have zero self awareness (Iâm looking directly at you, Eve Bono Hewson). But like, what do we expect from them?? These people DO NOT LIVE NORMAL LIVES. Do they even know how to pay at a restaurant? Imagine them at a self checkout. ANYWAY, I think in this situation, being a very significant nepo baby, the pressure was ON for Zelda Williams. And I think she definitely delivered! This movie was fun, quirky, campy, silly, and to my very happy surprise, I was very satisfied with the 80s costuming and set decoration! And Diablo threw in a bunch of 80s-isms that really tickled the brain (donât have a cow!). Cole Sprouse was actually great, delivering hilarious physical comedy a la Billy from Hocus Pocus (who else thinks heâs hot?). I think Kathryn Newton was especially good - she gives off the classic 80s outcast vibe while maintaining a quirkiness that made the character super believable. I think thatâs a testament to Zeldaâs direction - the performances really were perfect for the tone of the film. And there are some visual dream-like scenarios that show off Zeldaâs creativity and vision, making me excited for what she does next!Â

Again, another movie that I am FLABBERGASTED that I missed. First of all, itâs called VAMP. Why is this just being served to me now?? Does amazon not know about the Vamps Collection??? I KNOW they know (I TOLD THEM!), so why IN THE WORLD would this movie just all of THE SUDDEN appear in my âmovies we think youâd like,â which is already a category that wants to fight me. Nothing will read you to filth more than the âmovies we think youâd like category.â Basically just the most abhorrent, disgusting, Eli Roth style horror movies flanked by With Upon A Star and Cruel Intentions (which is honestly the cringiest of them all). So VAMP all of the sudden appears like the algo just invented it for us at that exact moment. A 1986 vampire movie where Grace Jones plays an exotic dancer vampire??? I shouldâve watched it the day I was born. Whatever, I didnât, we watched it now, and it was great. Itâs actually so dumb, but itâs great. Itâs worth it just for Grace Jones - it honestly seems like a vehicle for her to show off her Keith Haring collab. Good enough for me!Â

This one was crazy you guys. Reminiscent of another MAX docuseries I wrote about recently, Great Photo, Lovely Life, where photojournalist Amanda Mustard (sorry but lol) investigates the decades long serial abuse committed by her grandfather. Now in THIS 4 part docuseries, amateur investigator Sierra Barter confronts her familyâs past in search of answers about her step-grandfather, Jim Mordecai. Not only does Sierra uncover the horrendous things Jim did to his several families, she goes deeper into Jimâs past to discover some truly chilling information that changes everyone forever. While there are a few moments early on in the series that made me consider jumping ship (it just felt too similar to the other doc at first), once the story got going, I was absolutely RIVETED. Itâs just absolutely crazy what some people are capable of, and I think the work that these women are doing to expose these TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE men is one of the most important things happening in media today.

]]>I feel like I always underestimate how much I like Jenny Slate. Who am I kidding, Iâve pretty much loved every movie she has any involvement in (we shant sleep on Obvious Child). Thereâs just something about her (sandwiches)! Seriously, I guess if Iâm really being honest with myself, my favorite kind of people are lady millennials from Massachusetts, so of course I love Jenny Slate. I absolutely loved her last stand up special, âStage Fright,â from 2019. Remember she showed her childhood Massachusetts home? I love Massachusetts. I feel like people often fantasize about living in the big city or abroad - I always fantasized about living in MASSACHUSETTS haha. And do you know why? HOCUS FRIGGIN POCUS. I knew it was my destiny to be in the sixth-smallest state by land area, frolicking amongst witch sisters and Vinessa Shaw. Anyway so Jenny Slateâs new special, âSeasoned Professional,â somehow exceeded expectations. Slate has always been so funny, but I dunno I think having a kid during lock down made her even more of a silly goose. There were parts of this special where I legit had to pause for laughter, and Iâm ngl, Iâm a tough crowd. Like tears streaming down my face cry laughing. Thank you so much for that, Jenny Slate. HIGHLY recommend this one!Â

WHY NOT watch Jumanji amirite??? NGL, I was so overwhelmed with annoyance after watching One Day, that I needed my beloved Kirsten Dunst to bring me back to life. Also Robin Williams. Also Bebe Neuwirth. Also Bonnie Hunt (although I know from a trusted source that she is NOT VERY NICE). We hadnât watched this 1995 classic since the 90s really, when I pretty much wore the tape out. Of course I remember it being so much more epic and scary than it actually is. The CGI is very 90s, but I love it. Itâs just a blast, and the pacing of it is just 90s perfection. Like the plot just moves along, each turn bringing another jungle thing to be dealt with (omg remember the spiders). I think there is a lot more thinking to be done about the breaking of space time and time travel propositions, but I need a second Iâm still annoyed about One Day.

]]>FINALLY got to watch this movie but heads up, we DID purchase it at FULL PRICE (what am I, the 1%???). Yes you read that right, we PURCHASED it. It now lives in my library nestled between Sheâs The Man and Donât Tell Mom The Babysitterâs Dead. And yes, it does trouble me that I purchased this movie yet I still donât have a physical copy of it, and my ability to see Zac Efronâs mind boggling face and body still relies on the kindness of god himself, aka the Amazon Web Services. Wait, what was I talking about? Oh yeah, The Iron Claw! Holy Jesus you guys this one is a doozy. Donât get me wrong, itâs great, but itâs one of the saddest movies Iâve ever seen. Like, Forrest Gump sad - honestly maybe more sad. The acting is fantastic, I live for the 80s style wrestling graphics and thereâs lots of buff guys in little panties - no complaints! And tbh, I spent 100% of the movie just marveling at what Zac Efron looks like. Itâs just mesmerizing. What happened??? Where is my beautiful baby Troy Bolton?? Itâs like Troy Bolton became the Hulk and got stuck. Regardless, I highly recommend this movie as a very convincing cautionary tale of family expectations and control. What an absolutely bonkers story!

I think watching Lying Eyes last week set us on an incredible journey of exploring sub 10% Rotten Tomatoes rated poopbombs from the 90s and 00s. Thus we have The In Crowd, aka 90 minutes of me just saying âIâve definitely seen this beforeâ repeatedly. You know when you watch something that is buried so deeply in the recesses of your brain that you realize that the thing itâs reminding you of is itself? Yeah, thatâs what happened. Oh my god this movie was perfection. Long story short, Adrien (17F lol) is released from a psychiatric hospital when her doctor gets her a living/working situation at his country club (lololol). But Adrien is so beautiful and mysterious that âthe in crowd,â specifically IT girl Brittany (17F although she donât be acting like it), starts bringing her into their clique. Craziness ensues (including a missing sister named SONNNDRA lolol), and these teens just go crazy. This movie is so obscure and low budget that itâs earned a VERY impressive 2% on Rotten Tomatoes! Thatâs such an accomplishment you guys, congrats. This movie also came out in the year 2000, so it falls into an extremely niche category of elder millennial teen thrillers. I honestly could talk about this movie forever, but I will stop here, but feel free to reach out about it!

Ok so we absolutely missed this movie when it came out in 2020, which is shocking considering we're big Seyfried-heads. It got onto our radar after watching a parody TikTok about it and its premise. Basically, Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried are married with a daughter and they end up renting an isolated house off in Wales because of, ya know, problems. The thing is, the house has its own issues, and Kevin Bacon has to do a protect. This movieâs fun in like an M.C. Escher kind of way. Itâs almost like the movie Labyrinth but without everything. I dunno watch it if youâre bored and like Kevin Bacon.

You've been taking your time this year, Scorpio. You've learned that you do your best with the slow and steady approach. You may feel like letting loose and making a rash decision this season, but don't let Gemini's duality confuse you. Stick to your gut and take things bit by bit. You are on the correct pathway and you can trust your gut.Â
We recommend a candle with a bit of mystery to appeal to your enigmatic nature.
Element: Fire đĽ
Zodiac Symbol: Archer đš
Much like Gemini, you tend to thrive in a bit of chaos, Sagittarius. As the seasons change, you grow. Make sure you are surrounding yourself with supportive friends and family. We recommend a fun, summer-y scent for inspiration.Â
Element: Earth đ
Zodiac Symbol: Seagoat đ
Really and truly, Capricorn, you've been through it. This may actually be news to you, because you rarely take the opportunity to give yourself a break and feel things, but you have been working incredibly hard and taking hits like a champ for years now (thanks mostly to Pluto being in Capricorn since 2008). Make sure you take some time to FEEL all the feelings. You need to work through some things to push through to easier times. Gemini season is going to ask you to be a little more social and to take a well needed vacation. Listen to it!
We recommend a candle that is an absolute treat. Â
Element: Air đ¨
Zodiac Symbol: Water Bearer đş
Love is in the air, Aquarius. Well, it could be lust, but either way, things are really heating up for you! Take a step back from the daily grind and enjoy some summer romance (or bromance, or showmance â it could be any new, exciting relationship). This doesn't necessarily feel like anything too serious (although it could turn into that), so make sure to enjoy the summer lovin'!
We recommend a candle with a sensual side.
Element: Water đ
Zodiac Symbol: Fish đ
You've been having a lot of fun so far this year, Pisces! There's still lots of fun coming for you this season, but the focus is shifting toward family and home. This may have you a bit more in your feels than usual, but it's ultimately a good thing. Take the time to honor your feelings and embrace sentimentality.Â
We recommend a cozy and nostalgic scent.Â
At the end of this month, eclipse season begins with a new moon partial solar eclipse in Taurus. Eclipses represent the ultimate competition of the Sun vs. the Moon. This isn't a showdown in the traditional sense, but a representation of our outer selves (the shining sun) versus our inner selves (the dark moon). When the moon stands in the way of the sun, even if for a brief moment, the order is disturbed and its impact is felt in the universe. You may not even initially notice this solar disruption, but eclipse energy means chaos.Â
We typically view the new moon as a time to start a new chapter, to visualize the "new" dark moon as an empty cup, which we are to fill up with all of our hopes and dreams. It's a time to manifest and send out our intentions. This is all different when we are in the midst of a lunar transit. Too many things are in motion to proverbially "stick the landing" with manifestation during this time. We are urged, rather, to observe and take note of things as they live in the grey areas.
You are mid-flight on a journey to your next checkpoint, make sure you see where you are about to land before you plan your next takeoff.Â
In order to clearly observe this new moon's message, take a moment to cleanse your space of any negative energy. We like to do this with scented candles, that complement our energy, as we can keep them lit throughout the ritual to help keep the mood lifted and open.
We want to burn something that promotes clarity and focus. For this we are using the Willow ⢠Palo Santo Candle. Palo santo, resinous labdanum, and smoky birch tar sit a warm base of vanilla bean and cedar.Â
After you've spent some time in quiet meditation, get out a pen and paper write down anything that popped up during mediation. Even if it doesn't make sense now, write it down. Your job is not to interpret these messages or to manifest anything, your goal is to simply observe. Taurus is a logical thinker who takes stock of things before taking action. We want to mirror this energy and take time to contemplate what these messages mean for us over the next moon cycle.
All of the seeds you've planted so far this year are rapidly growing beneath the surface. As an earth sign, Taurus reminds us to stay grounded and have patience while seedlings prepare to bloom.Â
Â

You've been very self-reflective, Aquarius, and you may finally be ready to talk about something you've had on your mind. You've been avoiding something difficult, but this season urges you to heal your voice and speak your truth. This jump will open up the space for positive change in your relationships, whether it be to strengthen them or to set up healthy boundaries.
We recommend a grounding candle that promotes clarity.
Element: Water đ
Zodiac Symbol: Fish đ
Harmony is on its way, Pisces! So far this year you've celebrated, you've worked, and now you're going to blend both together for a strong work/life balance. You've been manifesting balance for some time now, and now you know exactly how to achieve it. Embrace the good, Fishie, because this is a magical time for you!
We recommend a candle that promotes a uplifting, balanced energy.
This month's new moon arrives in Aries, the sign that represents authenticity, optimism, and honesty. This energy urges us to seek out our most honest inner selves. We are reminded that, no matter what is happening around us, we must stay true to ourselves in order to push through.
New moons represent new beginnings, and with Aries being the first sign of the zodiac, this is the perfect time to start a new chapter. Creative energies will be at their highest, so use this time to build clear visions in your mind.Â
As you begin to write this new chapter in you life, it's best to start with a clean slate, or in this case, cleansed, positive energy. We are lighting our Enya ⢠Wild Mint & Lime Candle for a nice vibe refresher. Mint has long been used as an effective stress reducer, while top notes of lavender promote a soothing environment and help to achieve a calm focus.Â
ďťżYou are the author of your own story. Since Aries represents new beginnings, this is a great time to break out a brand new moon journal. Spend some time writing out you truths. What are you grateful for? What are your strengths? What brings you joy? Make a few lists to help you connect to your innermost authenticity.Â
Aries fiery energy makes this the most fortuitous time to plan a new beginning. After you've spent time discovering everything that brings you the most happiness, it's now time to write down what you want to achieve. This is the most powerful time for manifestation, so take your time and be sure that you are being completely true to yourself. What goals can you visualize yourself achieving and enjoying?Â
Once you've finished writing, put your moon journal on your windowsill along with any crystals to charge in the moonlight. Allow the new moon's energy of growth to wash over your intentions.Â
Make sure to get a restful night's sleep, new moons can be very draining!Â
Happy New Moon, Candle Coven!

Element: Water đ
Zodiac Symbol: Fish đ
You've been celebrating, Pisces, and rightfully so. Your birthday energy from last month carries over into Aries season. Take some time to make sure you're enjoying all things with balance. Re-center yourself and plant "seeds" during this time so you can watch your efforts bloom later this spring.
While the Worm Moon signifies the first signs of Spring, spiritually it signifies the perfect time for a fresh start. As signs of new life spring from the earth, we are urged to bloom anew ourselves.
This month's full moon arrives in Virgo, a sign known for its organization and planning abilities. 2022 may have you already feeling overworked and burned out â you are not alone. We have all been put through the wringer lately and this full moon is here to help you sort things out. Take time to tap into Virgo's energy to help map out your future.
Settle into a comfortable space where you can focus. If you find your space is a little messy or distracting, take a page out of Virgo's book and spend some time organizing so you can enjoy a clutter free space and mindset.
We want to magnify this full moon's planning energy. For this we are burning a candle with effervescent and positive energy â our brand new Britney ⢠Sparkling Lemonade Candle. With notes of sweet lemon, white florals and vanilla, this candle promotes a positive yet calm environment, perfect for planning and organizing!
Â
Use our Wand Matches to light your candle and set positive intentions. As you light it, imagine white light surrounding you and protecting you.Take some time to write down everything you want to achieve in the next few months. Write down some practical steps you can take to reach these goals. Don't get overwhelmed by the upcoming journey, remember to take things step by step.Â
It's important to bring a sense of forgiveness into your planning and organization. This ritual should not be stressful at all. When making plans, don't focus on all the things you could have or should have done, that was not your pathway. Let all of that self-judgement go and manifest with a clear and open mind.Â
Once you're done, place your brainstorm lists on your windowsill alongside some of your favorite crystals to charge in the moonlight. As you move through the next phase, hold onto these crystals to help you tap into Virgo's energy in moments of stress.Â
Make sure to extinguish your candle with a wick dipper or candle snuffer. You never want to "blow" away your intentions when putting out your candle.Â
Happy Worm Moon, Candle Coven!
]]>It's Women's History Month and we're celebrating by watching movies that star some of our fave inspirations!
This 2021 doc about the late punk icon Poly Styrene follows her daughter, Celeste, as she combs through her motherâs extensive archives. Ruth Negga narrates the film using Styreneâs prolific poetry and guides us through her troubled yet beautiful life. Looking back at Poly Styreneâs work and contributions to music and art, we see just how ahead of her time she was. This movie is well crafted and thought provoking. A must watch!
Candle Pairing: Pair with the Poly ⢠Sour Candy Candle
âThis used to be my playgroundâŚ.â Ok Iâm already crying. This movie falls into the exclusive category of âMovies Alaina Watched Compulsively As A Child,â and let me tell you I watched this movie literally every day. I was a member of the All American League. I was the head of the Dottie fan club, I was obsessed with Marla Hooch, and like everyone else, I was devastated when Kit was traded to Racine. No duo comes close to Mae and Doris, and of course, thereâs no crying in baseball. This movie SMASHES the Bechdel Test, and the guy we have to tolerate the longest is TOM HANKS. What a relief. Thank you Penny Marshall for all youâve done for us.
Candle Pairing: Pair with the Madonna ⢠Pink Pepper & Fig Candle
Â
This absolute gem marks her majesty Dolly Partonâs cinematic debut, and fun fact, she accepted the role only under the condition that she would write and sing the theme song. She went on to get an Oscar nomination and two Grammy awards for her hit song! Throw in the ICONIC Jane Fonda and the hilarious Lily Tomlin and you get the best workplace revenge fantasy ever made.
Candle Pairing: Pair with the Dolly ⢠Peach & Lily Candle
Â
If you havenât watched this movie recently, I implore you to. You must, like THIS WEEKEND. Itâs got everything: a powerhouse trio of besties, gross ex-husbands, SJP and Elizabeth Berkley as second wives, a musical number, and...Ivanka Trump? I promise it works! She lands a real zinger! Anyway, this movie truly so fun and can be watched a thousand times!
Candle Pairing: Pair with the First Wives Collection
Â
In this based-on-true-events film starring Meryl Streep and CHER, Streep plays Karen Silkwood, a worker at a nuclear fuel production facility in Oklahoma. This story is as relevant as ever: Karen, worried about the threat of exposure to radiation, becomes a union activist who brings attention to the dangerous corporate practices that plague her and her co-workers. Both Meryl and Cher were nominated for Oscars and Cher ended up taking home the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. I, for one, will watch literally any movie that has both Meryl and Cher. I canât think of anything better. Also, I reference the Silkwood Shower maybe every day.
Candle Pairing: Pair with the Cher ⢠Jasmine & Rosewater Candle
Â
First things first, this movie has one of the best soundtracks of all time. Whitney Houston, Angela Bassett, Lela Rochon and Loretta Devine star in this ode to strong female friendships. These ladies are there for each other through the trials and tribulations brought on by the men in their lives. This 90s classic will make you laugh, make you angry, but mostly will make you happy to have your friends by your side. SHOOP!
Candle Pairing: Pair with the Whitney ⢠Freesia & Citrus Candle
Â
This 2017 doc is about the fascinating life of actress and inventor Hedy Lamarr. It explores themes like World War II, emigration, failed marriages, sex positivity, oppressive beauty standards, and the womenâs fight to gain respect in Hollywood. What really makes the Hedy Lamarr story so captivating is her lesser known contribution to the world of science and invention. Lamarrâs contributions to the world go so far beyond the surface.
Candle Pairing: Pair with the Hedy ⢠Amber & Tuberose Candle
Â
I honestly believe that you canât have a list about Womenâs History Month movies without including the âaffableâ Bette Davis somewhere. I have chosen her ICONIC film, All About Eve, a 1950 film about a highly regarded yet aging (sheâs only 40 GAWD) broadway star. Tackling the timeless issue of women aging out of Hollywood, this film shines a spotlight on the infighting caused by corrupt misogyny at the highest levels.
Candle Pairing: Pair with the Bette ⢠Rose & Berries Candle
Â
And last but certainly not least, the Mamma Mia franchise to round out this list! Mamma Mia! the First, Meryl's highest grossing movie of all time, is just a classic feel good ode to women empowerment. Who cares if Donna doesn't know who her baby daddy is!??! Why not just have 3?? No one's even mad about it! And there's nothing better than watching The Dynamos live their best lives to ABBA classics. Then Mamma Mia! the Second comes in and is JUST AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER?!?!? What a gift! AND CHER COMES TO GREECE IN A HELICOPTER?!?!? Say no more!
Candle Pairing: Pair with the Dynamos! Collection
]]>This new moon arrives in Pisces â a water sign that rules altered states of consciousness, sleep, empathy, and a laid back mentality. While Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac, which means some things will come to an end, new moons signify a new beginning and create the perfect energy to set intentions.Â
This is a great opportunity to define your feelings and open up your mind to new possibilities. This energy is all about emotional growth, creativity, and intuition. Tap into your inner magic and manifest your next chapter. Spend time today connecting to Pisces' emotional depth, and say "goodbye" to the things that you won't be bringing with you in this new chapter.Â
We want to work with Pisces' empathic water energy to help us tap into our deepest intuition. We're filling our space with the uplifting scent of the Tanya! ⢠Aegean Lemon Zest Candle. Lemon is known to increase psychic awareness and improve concentration.Â
ÂHonor Pisces' water element by taking a relaxing new moon bath. Play some of your favorite music, light your candle, add some bath oils, and embrace the feeling of opening up your third eye. Imagine that this bath is a conduit to your intuition. Allow your mind to think forward â what do you want to focus on in the future, what are you leaving behind? Leave your bath feeling cleansed, relaxed, and open to what is to come.Â
Since Pisces rules sleep, tuck in for a good night's rest. New moons can typically drain your energy and this one is no exception. Allow this dip in energy to lull you into a restorative sleep. As you fall asleep, think of everything that you want to manifest and create during this next chapter. Keep a dream journal by your bedside and note anything your dreams may have brought you. Use Pisces' intuitive energy to discover what these dreams mean for your future.
Happy New Moon, Candle Coven!
]]>We're currently deep in the butt of winter, and the only things that can console us are watching things and lighting candles. How revolutionary! So if you're ANYTHING like us and spend 99% of your time cuddled up in a therapy blanket surrounded by therapy animals, you probably need some viewing + candle pairing suggestions. Here's what we've watched recently that we deem worthy of your time and candles.Â
If you think elaborate catfishing schemes were a thing of the past, boy do you have another thing coming. This documentary follows several women who were SWINDLED by a guy they matched with on TINDER. He immediately sweeps them off their feet with what appears to be a lavish billionaire lifestyle. But it turns out the guy was more Bernie Madoff than he was Bill Gates.Â
Candle Pairing: Pair our Willow ⢠Palo Santo candle with a nice protection spell for this watch. You're going to want to put a nice barrier between yourself and anyone like this Tinder Swindler guy.
As a proud member of the LGBTQA+ community, this show is straight up anthropological. Watching this show makes me feel like I'm doing my dissertation on Live, Laugh, Love. I've always wondered what motivates the partner picking of the "man cave" and "she shed" crew. And boy did I get answers. If you enjoyed season 1 of Love Is Blind, you will be delighted by season 2, mostly because there's no Jessica.
Candle Pairing: Our Madonna ⢠Pink Pepper & Fig candle pairs perfectly with Love Is Blind Season 2 because she's spicy but sweet. She's zesty, just like these people searching for love. And why not pay homage to the woman whose dating life has been under a microscope her whole career? What an icon!
Â
Ali Wong is BACK with a brand new stand up special that I literally ROFLed at. This might be my favorite stand up special of all time. I can't stop thinking about it. There are things she says in this special that will stick with me for the rest of my life. Without spoiling, out of context, "the bottom of a bird cage." Ali Wong brilliantly explores life as a woman, life as a rich and famous woman, life as a married woman and so much more. She articulates ideas so hilariously that you don't even realize what she's saying is kind of taboo (although it shouldn't be). She should win a Nobel Prize for this.
Candle Pairing: Watch while burning Cher ⢠Jasmine & Rosewater simply because of when Cher was asked "Do you think men are important" to which she answered, "Like for what?"
Â
Zoe Kravitz stars in this new (what I'm calling) AI thriller directed by Steven Soderbergh. I REALLY enjoyed this movie. It gave us Zoe in an iconic blue updated AmĂŠlie haircut, and we all know a good hairdo can MAKE a movie (i.e. Run Lola Run). In Kimi, Angela (played by Kravitz) is an agoraphobic tech worker, who became as such due-to-the-fact-that there is a global pandemic that we're actually still dealing with in real life, which was nice to see a movie actually acknowledge that for onceâGAWD. People were wearing masks it was crazy. Anyway, Angela's job is to audit errors made by an Alexa style device called Kimi. She hears something very scary while listening, and it all unfolds from there. It's like Rear Window meets Black Mirror (specifically Ashley O.) with a dash of corporate intrigue.Â
Candle Pairing: Pair this movie with our Poly ⢠Sour Candy candle because the experience of Zoe's blue hair mixed with the scent of sour raspberry lemonade just feels right to me.
Â
If you're a fan of Downton Abbey and also miss having a little Cynthia Nixon on your screen now that And Just Like That... is over, this show was made just for you. The Gilded Age follows the lives of a few VERY wealthy families in New York City in the late 19th C., when the city started being built into the metropolitan center of the universe it is today. It's so funny watching upper upper class infighting knowing what we know now about rich people, the government and taxes. "No YOU can't come to my BALL because your HUSBAND won't sell his STOCKS!" and "Why, I can't have my own bank account Mr. Raikes."Â
Candle Pairing: Pair this show with our Tanya! ⢠Aegean Lemon Zest candle because it's very bougie. It contains one of the most expensive fragrance oils we've ever used. Also Christine Baranski!
]]>2022 started off strong in the moving sign of Aquarius. We have all been urged to focus on work and deal with many of life's recent stressors. Pisces season is here to help us relax and focus on our creativity, relationships and to tap into Pisces' psychic intuition.Â
This season will inspire us to unwind and cultivate a better a work/life balance after we've been diligent during the Capricorn and Aquarius seasons. That push to work-work-work will transition into a time of reflection. Overall, this should be a VERY nice change of pace for all signs.Â
Here are our candle recommendations for each sign as we wade into Pisces' empathetic waters.Â
Element: Fire đĽ
Zodiac Symbol: Ram đ
You have been going non-stop, Aries. You have incredible stamina and have a fire inside of you that does not go out. As we slow down into a more reflective period in Pisces, it's important that you still stoke your inner flame while taking the time to pace yourself. You find you can relax better in an energetic environment. We recommend a scent that will keep you uplifted, but will also remind you that it's a marathon, not a sprint.
Element: Earth đ
Zodiac Symbol: Bull đ
Taurus, you know the importance of self-care, and more importantly, you know how to do it! You have a taste for the finer things in life, but the past couple of months have had you compromising your "me" time, and you are more than ready for some rest. Even the most powerful Bulls need time to recharge. We recommend a scent that reminds you of your most luxurious self-care moments and that there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking time to for yourself.Â

You've been dealing with some communication break downs, Gemini. Pisces season is here to help give some clarity. This is going to be a very important time for self-reflection. Take this season as an opportunity to use Pisces' intuition to clear up some things that have been up in the air. You will find that the answers you have been seeking will finally reveal themselves to you. We recommend a candle that helps to magnify Pisces' watery energy to help you tap into your intuition.
Element: Water đ
Zodiac Symbol: Crab đŚ
Someone's been overthinking a lot lately and it's you, Cancer! You have a tendency to try and intellectualize your situation to help relieve some of the big feelings you've been having. You have been doing a lot of work on rationalizing your thoughts and emotions. Now is the moment to realize that you already KNOW, intuitively, your innermost truth. We recommend a scent that feels both cozy and uplifting. Something that helps your homebody spirit feel safe in your crab shell.
Element: Fire đĽ
Zodiac Symbol: Lion đŚ
So far so good, Leo! You've been checking a lot of the boxes on your self-care journey and you would like a little recognition for this. You may feel like you've been doing a lot of compromising lately (especially in the romance and relationship zone). Pisces season is here to shine the spotlight on your inner self, helping you to realize that the only true validation you will ever receive is from you! We recommend a candle that helps you to focus on your inner needs and stokes your inner flame.
Element: Earth đ
Zodiac Symbol: Maiden đ§ââď¸
You already know what we're going to say, Virgo. Your super power is your ability to build and stick to a healthy routine. Lately you've been overworked and your routine has been slipping. Take this time to refocus your energy on your good habits and you will see an uptick in the romance and relationship department. You sometimes have a hard time accepting love from others. Pisces' energy is here to remind you that you deserve love and not to be so suspicious of it. We recommend a scent that inspires a little sensuality while still staying grounded.
Element: Air đ¨
Zodiac Symbol: Scales âď¸
You've had a focus on relationships so far this year, Libra. Whether you're coupled up, looking for love, or making new friends, you've been putting yourself out there. There are lots of amazing connections on the horizon, but Pisces is here to help balance you out by inspiring a more spiritual approach to building relationships. Take this time to work on yourself and you will find more meaningful connections. We recommend a scent that speaks to your balanced nature. Something that will help you to connect to your higher-self.Â
Element: Water đ
Zodiac Symbol: Scorpion đŚ
So many little things have been getting in your way, Scorpio. You're really good at stuffing it all down and moving on like nothing is bothering you. Pisces' watery, emotional vibes are here to encourage you to say how you feel. You deserve to have your feelings heard and you may find that speaking your truth will open you up to lots of new opportunities. We recommend a candle that will help you connect to your softer side. Something that inspires your active mind, while promoting a comfortable space for you to express yourself.
Element: Fire đĽ
Zodiac Symbol: Archer đš
You've been feeling lots of feelings but you've been having a really difficult time expressing yourself lately, Sagittarius. Pisces is here to connect the dots. You will finally be able to find your words and make choices that will help you to put all of these fiery feelings out. Focus on you connections with friends and family and matters of the home. We recommend a candle that helps to inspire your love of nostalgia. Sometimes looking back can help you connect to the present.
Element: Earth đ
Zodiac Symbol: Seagoat đ
You've been extremely work focused so far this year, Capricorn. You feel like every time you open a closet, skeletons come flying out. You've been doing a great job at crossing all the Ts and dotting all the Is, but now it's time to nurture yourself. When you get too into work mode it can harden your exterior. Pisces is here to remind you that your softness can be strength, too. We recommend a candle that has notes that are both grounding and exude some softness.Â
Element: Air đ¨
Zodiac Symbol: Water Bearer đş
Don't limit yourself, Aquarius. You've been pushing yourself, but only to a point. Pisces season is here to help change your perspective. Shift your focus from the material and realize the potential in some soul searching. You just might find the way to keep climbing upward by looking inwards. We recommend a candle that stimulates your mind. Something outside of the box, but with a lot of depth.
Element: Water đ
Zodiac Symbol: Fish đ
It's your birthday season, Pisces! All of the seeds you've been planting so far this year will start to grow. You've been putting in the work but so many roadblocks and set backs have you feeling a little lost. Not to worry, all of the positive energy you've been putting out will come back your way. Make sure you make space for this new growth. We recommend a candle that exudes pure positivity and can really transform your space.Â
This month's Full Snow Moon gets its name from Februaryâs characteristically heavy snowfall. This full moon arrives in charismatic Leo, so now is your time to soak in the moonlight and express all that creative energy and magnetism.
On top of this, the planets of love, Venus and Mars, make a rare connection in Capricorn while the full moon squares the lunar North and South nodes in Taurus and Scorpio. Letâs harness the energy of these astrological events to the fullest with a Full Moon Ritual.
The meeting of Venus and Mars in Capricorn, the sign of achieving goals and ambition, signifies a confluence of passion and power. Take this time to focus on your long-term goals and finalize any deals or contracts that might be up in the air. Doing so under the 2022 Full Snow Moon can give them longevity and continual passion.
The squaring of this full moon with the lunar North and South nodes in Taurus and Scorpio will challenge us to leave our comfort zones. The North and South nodes reveal our karmic path in this lifetime, the South reveals our past lives while the North shows the new direction weâre taking in this lifetime.
As the earthbound Taurus North Node grapples with the more esoteric Scorpio South Node, we will feel an inner struggle between the physical and metaphysical, the digital world and the analog. With that being said, this is the perfect time to break out of your comfort zone and invite more creativity into your world. Find the sweet spot between stability and uncertainty when it comes to your passions.
Leo is the lion, the hero of the zodiac. Leoâs seldom hold back and instead use their lions roar to speak up when others donât dare. Embrace these Leo characteristics to take those next steps that might feel a little scary. Light up the Madonna Candle for some extra Leo inspiration.
Use this full moon in Leo to look inward and self-reflect on where you can improve in self realization. How can you move to a higher vibration? Where can you make bolder choices to do the right thing? Now is the time to do some light housekeeping in your world of responsibilities.
Â
]]>This is a great time to enjoy being in touch with your emotions, but not necessarily act on them. Allow this full moon to be an opportunity for positive growth.
We have got to cleanse! Get out your most cleansing candles and free your space of any negative energy. We are trying to avoid toxicity and miscommunication, for this we're using our Stevie ⢠White Sage & Neroli Tall Votive Candle for this. Light your candle and focus on the intention of clearing your mind and space of negativity.Â
Â
Spend time in quiet meditation and imagine cloaking yourself in a protective white light. We want to make sure we are protected from any negative outside energy. Use Cancer's intuitive energy to tap into this full moon's self-reflective properties.
Use this time to allow yourself to consider your needs and desires. The full moon is the perfect time to find a deeper understanding of yourself or a situation that has been on your mind. What is the best way to communicate your needs? What is worth addressing and what is worth letting go? Learning how to best communicate your needs will help avoid drama during this phase.Â
Happy Wolf Moon, Candle Coven!
]]>The new moon represents an opportunity for us to set new intentions. This new moon arrives in Capricorn â this cardinal earth sign's energy is all about hard work, goals and ambition. Capricorns are extremely driven and can accomplish anything they set their minds to as long as they have a clear pathway to get there. Capricorn energy is very pragmatic and it urges us to set practical goals.Â
This is the best opportunity to start off 2022 with a structured plan. Be prepared to take on Capricorn's focus and determination when setting your intentions because this sea goat will not let you give up. Â
Capricorn's like everything it be tidy and orderly so they can focus their headspace on getting down to work. Tidy up an area where you feel comfortable and light an earthy candle to connect to this earth sign's energy. We're burning The Coven Tall Votive Set for this â notes of cedar, patchouli and sandalwood will help to promote grounded energy when planning your goals. While Capricorn energy loves ambition, you need to be able to practically see yourself accomplishing your goals step by step.Â
Get out a pen and paper and write down all of the goals you want to accomplish this year. Capricorn approaches all things with a "work" mentality and this energy will help us to see the ways in which we can actually get where we want to go.
This is the moment to be as ambitious as possible. Aim big. Some of these goals may seem lofty, but we're going to take a practical approach to achieving them in the next step.Â
Go through your list of intentions and see if any can be combined into one. Capricorns do work hard, but they also like to work smart. For example, if you want to work on waking up earlier and you also want to learn a new skill, these two goals can be achieved together by waking up earlier and dedicating that extra time on learning your new skill.Â
For bigger goals, work backwards. Imagine yourself reaching your goal and retrace the steps you took to get there. Write these all down like a list of "to dos". Next to each step, give yourself a timeline of when you'd like to be at each check point. By breaking each leg of the journey up, ambitious goals become more achievable. Now you have a checklist ready to go!Â
After you've finishing planning, give yourself a pep talk. The Capricorn energy will help to fuel your drive and remind you that you are capable of great things. As you start on your journey, remind yourself that your goals can be accomplished if you take your time and put in the work. Â
Happy New Moon, Candle Coven!
]]>The Winter Solstice has been celebrated by ancient and modern cultures alike to mark the close of one year and the nearing of a new one. As the Sun moves into Capricorn, it urges us to reflect back on the past year and use the last of our energies to fulfill all that we have resolved to do.
On this day we will experience the least amount of sunlight in the Northern Hemisphere. We are urged to explore the darkness around and within ourselves as we enter into a new cycle and a new age. It's the perfect time to manifest your visions for your future and turn them into realities.
Spend time on this day in quiet meditation and contemplation. We recommend burning our Charmed Collection while meditating. Grounding notes of cedar, patchouli and musk help you to channel your inner Capricorn.
Â
The answers for how to revolutionize your life are ready to emerge. Get ready for new beginnings, liberate yourself from everything that has been holding you back, trust yourself and move forward into a positive transformation.Â
]]>The final full moon of 2021 is here to heal us and to help us release anything that will not serve us in the new year. This month's new moon in Sagittarius stirred up a lot of emotions and forced us to face our innermost truth. While themes from the new moon are still at play, Saturday's full moon will come in to help us recharge and move forward with stronger intentions.
Since this full moon is in Gemini, a signed ruled by the communication planet Mercury, it's going to be crucial that we take the time to reconnect to our inner voice.Â
This isn't the first time you've heard this, but it's potentially even more important to cleanse now that this moon is arriving just after a huge shake up with the last new moon in Sagittarius. We're cleansing our space with the Coven Classic Candle Set.Â
These three candles contain cleansing elements of palo santo, cedar, thyme and patchouli. They will help promote a safe space and reign in positivity. The glow of the candlelight has been know to be calming and can keep bring about total relaxation.
Bonus: If you haven't tried burning these three candles together, then you're in for a real treat!
Â
Full moons are nourishing. This is peak time for breakthroughs and cleaning out the proverbial "cobwebs" that might be hanging around, clouding your intuition. Take the time to bathe in this full moon, charge your crystals, reflect on everything that's been standing in your way and rework things to clear your path.Â
Now that you've pinpointed the things that you need to shed, use the full moon's added energy to go through the exercise of physically cleaning or organizing something in your space. This can be incredibly beneficial for your mental wellbeing as the act of literally cleaning something can help you make changes in other areas of your life as well.
While doing this, remind yourself that you are working to shed what doesn't serve you.Â
When you're finished, extinguish your candles with a snuffer or wick dipper. Blowing out a candle can "blow" away all of your intentions.
Happy Full Moon, Candle Coven!
]]>It's the most WONDERFUL time of the year! Cookies, presents, friends & fam, and holiday movies â yes please! We love nothing more than cozying up with a festive film and a scented candle on these holly jolly evenings.Â
We asked the Candle Coven for their favorite holiday movies of all time and compiled a list of their most popular choices PLUS the best Bijou Candles to pair with them. Giddy-up, giddy-up, giddy-up let's go!
Â
This fan fave made the top of our list and for good reason! This early aughts instant classic is basically 8Â holiday movies in one. We follow the lives of 8 different couples in loosely interrelated tales during the frantic holiday season in London, England (every heard of it!?). Come for the turtlenecks and stay for Hugh Grant dancing to the Pointer Sisters.Â
Candle Pairing: Watch with our Sarah ⢠Ginger & Clove Candle. Zesty notes of citrus mingle with fresh ginger and a base of warm clove. This blend is equal parts fun and nostalgic and pairs perfectly with dulcet tones of Alan Rickman admitting he was wrong for doing my girl Emma Thompson like that!
Â
I think it would be a Christmas Crime to not include this 24-hours-on-repeat holiday fave. Fun fact about me (who asked?!), my birthday is Xmas eve and as I was born in the 80s this NEW film quickly became very important to me. I identified with it as a babe of the wintertide and watched it SO many times in a row that I broke our family vhs copy. Is this the signal of an obsessive personality in a very young baby woman? Probably. But is it also a sign that this movie is perfect and deserves to be obsessed over? Absolutely.Â
Candle Pairing: Our Ingrid ⢠Pine & Balsam candle will transport you to Ralphie's living room on Christmas Day. The tinsel is glimmering in the sunlight, the scent of the Christmas tree is wafting through the air, Randy is sound asleep with his toy zeppelin, and there's one final present yet to be unwrapped...
Â
We put both of these faves together because they are equally flawless and you honestly shouldn't go through the holiday season without viewing both. Kevin is a true mastermind and should have been revered by many as a SURVIVOR. Instead he gets flack for ordering room service?! Take several seats mom and dad (although Catherine O'Hara can truly do no wrong), the boy had to EAT SOMETHING while you were in France.Â
Candle Pairing: Watch while burning Greta ⢠Bourbon & Vanilla. Notes of vanilla bean and warm woods smell like sugar cookies by the fireplace left for especially for Santa.Â
Â
This movie might be solely responsible for my Judy Garland obsession. Yes, of course, she's amazing in the Wizard of Oz, but the scene where she sings "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" while wearing that red velvet gown has been emblazoned into my mind since I was a baby. This movie is directed by Vincente Minelli and we all know that Judy and Vincente make some pretty incredible things together (I'M TALKING ABOUT LIZA MINELLI).Â
Candle Pairing: OBVIOUSLY you must burn the Judy ⢠Cornbread & Maple Butter Candle while watching this classique. Sweet maple mingles with salted butter as smooth as Judy's iconic vocal stylings.
Â
I'm going to be honest with you, I didn't realized that the name of this movie was a double entendre until just now. Scott Calvin accidentally kills Santa and, as per the "I accidentally killed Santa" CLAUSE (see what they did there), Scott must now become the acting Santa. This movie is a nice reminder that we should all believe in a little magic around Christmastime. (Also, it's Alaina's absolute favorite so we had to include it!)
Candle Pairing: Since this is Alaina's favorite, let's pair it with her all-time favorite candle, Lucille ⢠Spiced Orange. This citrus and spice blend reminds us of a steaming cup of mulled wine on a chilly winter's eve.
]]>It's the last new moon of 2021 and it's bringing a magical solar eclipse along with it! As we know from last month's lunar eclipse, eclipses magnify the moon's energy and can make things a lot more intense.Â
The theme for the last few months of this year has been all about examining your absolute truth, and this moon's energy is asking you to do the same. This time, you are asked to make some difficult realizations. In order to truly become the person whose goals you are manifesting, you have to examine your core belief system and make some potentially difficult changes.Â
As we grow, we need to constantly examine our inner growth and make sure its growth is parallel. A great example of this is not just "talking the talk" but "walking the walk." Are you holding yourself accountable to your innermost desires and morals? Once you are able to live your life as authentically as possible, then you will experience the freedom that this Sagittarius new moon is offering you.Â
Â
Grab a pen and paper and just start free writing with the intention of setting upcoming goals. Allow your thoughts to bubble up and write them down without censoring yourself or trying to make sense of them. Make sure you are being completely honest with what you truly wish to do, not things you think you're supposed to do.
After you've done this for a few minutes, look over what you've written down and keep these thoughts in mind as you move onto the next step.Â
Get yourself into a comfortable position and meditate with a focus on your free writing. Allow yourself to discover the truth behind your writing and what it means for you in terms of your inner desires.
These are the goals you should be setting for this new moon. When you allow your deepest truth to help you move forward, this is the clearest way to communicate what you wish to manifest.Â
Happy New Moon, Candle Coven!
]]>Full moons are checkpoints in your journey that can signify reaching a goal or making the realization that certain goals and relationships are not for you. It's a time to use the full moon's complete energy to see what still fits, what is still serving you and what you need to distance yourself from. This can be a very emotional process as you take a hard look at your inner truth.Â
When a full moon is accompanied by a lunar eclipse, all of the full moon's energy and emotions surrounded by it are amplified. Since this full moon falls in Taurus â a sign ruled by Venus, the enchanting planet that governs love, beauty, and money â expect to delve into emotions tied to these themes.Â
In order to receive this full moon's message, take a moment to cleanse your space of any negative energy. We like to do this with scented candles, that complement our energy, as we can keep them lit throughout the ritual to help keep the mood lifted and open.
This full moon is sitting opposite Mercury (the planet that rules communication), because of this we could experience more confusion and miscommunications. We want to burn something that promotes clarity and focus. For this we are using Sabrina ⢠Patchouli & Bergamot. Zesty citrus blends with earthy patchouli for an uplifting and grounded scent.Â
Happy Full Moon, Candle Coven!
Â

Â
Tonight's Scorpio new moon arrives with all of the watery intuition you would expect from this magical sign. Arriving just after Halloween, this new moon is also know as the "Lunar Samhain." The veil is still thin, making this the perfect time to set new intentions and double down on previous goals.Â
Take this time to look inward and discover your "shadow self". This means focusing on your inner truth and using that to strengthen your intuition, gain some clarity, and make some major realizations.Â
We want to create a calm, grounded atmosphere in case some intense feelings bubble up. Connecting to your innermost self can sometimes bring out some hidden emotions. Keep yourself feeling soothed and safe with our newest incense scented candle (complete with notes of earthy patchouli), Piper ⢠Crystal Incense.
ÂDress comfortably (we recommend wearing black, Scorpio's signature color) and find a cozy spot to relax. During this meditation, you are seeking your innermost truth. What is it that you really want to achieve? What is really standing in the way?
Allow Scorpio's intuitive energy to help answer these questions. Make peace with your shadow self. Picture yourself embracing your shadow self. Typically we hold all of our most taboo and painful emotions there. It's never good to keep things buried because they can take root. Take this time to acknowledge your true feelings and unburden your inner self.Â
Armed with these new discoveries, open up to a new page in a notebook or journal and write them down. Allow what lies in your innermost shadows to take control of the pen. This is symbolic of letting those buried emotions see the light.Â
Now turn to a new page and write down your goals. Imagine that you are writing a new chapter of your book. You can now manifest from a place of true honesty. You will be able to gain more clarity on what is actually standing in your way and then make necessary changes.
Once this is completed, extinguish your candle with a wick dipper or snuffer. We never want to "blow" out our intentions.
ÂÂ Happy New Moon, Candle Coven!
]]>This October full moon is here to bring the ENERGY! This moon in Aries will definitely bring the fire, which means intense feelings will arise. You may feel pushed to the limit by recent events in your life, this moon is here to help you set boundaries but giving you that little extra push.Â
Since Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac, we are reminded of intentions we set earlier this year. Do they still align with your current goals? Have you taken action to help you achieve your goals?Â
You may notice that fear and uncertainty have been standing in your way. Aries assertive energy will awaken the warrior within and help you to navigate with confidence. Now is the time to reassess where you're headed and take concrete steps to get there.
Â
Make yourself comfortable, close your eyes and focus on your breath. Imagine all of your stress draining from the soles of your feet. Allow the full moon's energy to enter through your head and let it slowly fill your body with warming energy. In this focused state, allow yourself to receive any insights on your pathway forward.Â
After meditating, grab a pen and paper and write down your goals moving forward. Have they changed since earlier this year? If so, adjust your intentions going forward. Maybe your goals haven't changed but you don't feel like you're on the right path. How can you recalibrate to get on the right path? This might mean making some difficult decisions or setting up new boundaries. Allow Aries' fire to fuel your spirit and make those changes.Â
After you've finished, extinguish your candle using a wick dipper or candle snuffer. You never want to "blow" away your intentions (plus, it's way better for your candles!).
Happy Full Moon, Candle Coven!
Â
]]>This October new moon falls in Libra and might just be the reset we have been waiting for. With Mercury in retrograde affecting communication and relationships, it's no surprise that the theme of this new moon is, indeed, relationships. From personal to professional and, especially the relationship you have with yourself, this moon will urge us to find the love.
Libra is all about balance and equality, so this is a great opportunity to take a look at our relationships and rebalance. Make sure to use clear and honest communication during this time. With Mercury in retrograde, things can sometimes get lost in translation, so focus on being as straightforward as possible.Â
This particular new moon is the perfect opportunity to set intentions and goals as it falls while SIX planets are retrograde (Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto). While these placements can sometimes cause chaos, this is also the best time to pave the way for the rest of the year. Use this ritual as a reset to get yourself on the pathway to your desires.Â
Set the scene for a relaxed and open environment. Light some candles that promote balance and clarity. We're using The Mystics Votive Set for this as the scent notes of wild mint, rosewood and eucalyptus swirl together for a soothing yet focused energy.Â
Once you've settled into your relaxed space, take out a notebook and write down everything that feels unbalanced in your relationships. This can be your relationship with yourself, with your friends and family, a loved one, or even a professional relationship. You don't need to focus on how to address these imbalances right now, just write out what isn't currently clicking into place.Â
New moons signify the start of a new chapter. Turn to a fresh page in your notebook, and after considering your list of imbalances, write down your goals going forward and how you will achieve them in a healthy, balanced manner.
Maybe you spend too much time working, make a goal to keep work within business hours and achieve this by setting up boundaries (i.e. don't check your work emails on weeknights and weekends). Maybe your partner feels like you need more quality time together. You can actually set these goals with your partner, write out a list of things you want to do together, and take it a step further by scheduling activities in your calendar.Â
By using this time to actively reset your path, you have a greater chance of manifesting your goals.Â
Once done, use a wick dipper or snuffer to extinguish your candles. Never blow out your candles after a ritual, as this can signify "blowing" everything you just manifested away.Â
]]>The leaves, they are a-changing! And you know what that means...time to grab some punkin' flavored whatevers, light some Bijou Candles, cement yourself to the couch, glue those eyeballs to the television and stream baby!Â
We watched hundreds (thousands?) of hours of new(ish) streaming TV so we could tell you what's worth your precious time. Here are our picks for the best shows to stream during Spooky Season!
Wowowow off to a GREAT start. From the guy who brought us The Haunting of Various Houses on Netflix comes this absolute banger of a limited series about a mysterious new priest who arrives on a remote island community off the coast of what looks like Maine. While it might take a moment for the action to pick up, this show will keep you on the edge of your seat for all 7 episodes. Who is this priest? Why is he so creepy yet charming? How does his mouth make so many sounds? How do these people get groceries? Is this a cult? These were the questions ravaging my brain throughout the entire series. But fear not, there are no ends left loose and the ending is extremely satisfying (and will also make you very contemplative). You know a show is good if you keep thinking about it days later, and let me tell you, I can't get it off my mind!
Candle Pairing: For those haunted church incense vibes, watch with the Sabrina ⢠Patchouli & Bergamot Tall Votive Candle.
This show falls into a new category of spooky that gets me VERY excited: internet thriller. Like the name implies, this show centers on the disappearance of Adrian Grenier (the GROUNDBREAKING Vince from Entourage, remember that show?) and a video that gets posted online showing him being held hostage with cryptic signs saying things like "at 5 million views I die" (see above). It's fast paced, there's the internet, there's text conversation graphics floating above phones, it's The Net (1995 Sandra Bullock) but for TODAY. Who took Adrien Grenier? Did he do the things he's accused of??! Will the adults figure out cell phones??? And again, this one's a limited series that ends nicely wrapped with a bow.Â
Candle Pairing: You're going to want something ZESTY to go along with this fast paced whodunit! Check out our Poly ⢠Sour Candy Votive Candle with its bubbly raspberry lemonade notes.
I mean just look at that cast! The reunion of George Banks and Franck Eggelhoffer with some Wizards of Waverly Place thrown in?? Sign me up! No but for real, the Steve Martin/Martin Short of it all, is that this show SLAPS. It's a mystery wrapped in a riddle and cash. Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez all live in the same incredible UWS building where a murder occurs, prompting the trio to start a podcast where they investigate the crime. It's charming, it's funny, and it's somehow also kind of scary! This one's still running, so we don't even know how it ends yet!
Candle Pairing: Greta ⢠Bourbon & Vanilla delivers the classic autumn mystery vibes needed to solve this one! Think a glass of bourbon while contemplating by the fireplace.Â
I know I know this one's pretty obvious, but I must say I enjoyed these episodes of American Horror Story more than most. This specific season consists of 7 stand-alone episodes that tie into the greater AHS universe. It's perfect for those that already love all AHSs AND for anyone who just wants a spooky hour-long mini movie. You get all the fun Ryan Murphy-isms and it's just so fun to see all the AHS players return for a breath of fresh!
Candle Pairing: Watch with the Siouxsie ⢠Cherry Bomb Votive Candle for a scent that is a little bit campy and a little bit spooky! Dark cherry and blond woods give this candle an irresistible edge.Â
Ok, with all that being said, the current season of AHS has really surpassed my expectations. While I have enjoyed the other seasons for the most part, I do tend to lose interest towards the middle of the season (hot take, I'm sorry!). But this season, like the name says, is a double feature! Problem solved! The first half of the season is the story about a struggling screenwriter who moves "down'tha" Cape with his wife and daughter for the winter (already terrifying). He finds himself at the sleepy neighborhood bar where the mysterious locals entice him with prospects of success and fame...but at what cost????? I must say I truly enjoyed this season so far. It's campy, it's spooky, and Macaulay Culkin's in it!Â
Candle Pairing: Our Elvira ⢠Poison Apple Votive Candle fits the bill in more ways than one. Think blood red apples, think New England orchards in the fall...think...poison!Â
This show's based on a comic book of the same name where an "event" occurs that kills all living things with a Y chromosome... and if you're anything like me, you're already thinking this is a WILD premise. SOLD. But this show takes it to the next level and successfully points out that not all people with Y chromosomes are men, and not all people without a Y chromosome are women. And beyond that, it makes you grapple with the thought of ALL LIVING THINGS with a Y chromosome suddenly becoming extinct. But there's a catch! ONE cis man (and his male monkey) survives, and we have no idea why, and he happens to be the NEW president's son. Oh yeah, and the president is DIANE LANE I LOVE HER! We all love dystopian dramas, but this one takes it to the next level and challenges any notions one might have about sex, gender and people's roles in a collapsed society.
Candle Pairing: We're breaking out the entire First Wives Collection for this one. Inspired by powerhouse fragrances of the 90s, these bitchin' babes would truly relish a world where Diane Lane is president.
]]>There's really no way to avoid it, so we've put together a list of candles to help you get through the retrograde, no matter how it may affect you.
One of the biggest things to watch out for is the brain fog and communication issues. You might feel a little less energized and focused and this can lead to classics like "Oops! I accidentally forwarded a private email to my entire address book!" or "Where are my %$&*#@ glasses?" (Pro tip: they're on your face).
Let's get focused with the help of some uplifting scents like our Dolly ⢠Peach & Lily Classic Candle or Enya ⢠Wild Mint & Lime Votive Candle. Both have notes of zesty citrus blended with soothing bases of cardamom. Try Dolly if you like things on the fruity side. If you prefer something more refreshing, Enya is your girl! Â
Mercury in retrograde has been know to really pile on the stress. This can really amp up issues in the relationship department â both professional and personal. Make sure to take time to sooth yourself with some mediation or a warm bubble bath, of course, with candles!
Our fave chill time candles are Lena ⢠Lavender & Chamomile Classic Candle and Cher ⢠Jasmine & Rosewater Classic Candle. Lena is a classic herbal lavender blend that immediately helps to melt the days stressors away. Cher has a more complex, luxe floral blend with a comforting base of warming clove.Â
Sometimes you can't fight the moonlight (thank you, LeAnn Rimes) and you have to ask yourself "what is the PURPOSE of this?!". Mercury retrograde is really asking you to slow down, take a breather, and make some changes to help ease your journey. This is a great time to journal and meditate.Â
Get out your notebooks, find a cozy spot and light up our Patti ⢠Warm Leatherette Votive Candle or our Stevie ⢠White Sage & Neroli Tall Votive Candle. Patti has pensive notes of eucalyptus, sage and warm leather â great for engaging your inner poet. Stevie's herbal notes of white sage and bright neroli help promote positive energy.Â
This can be a very healing and transformative time. Instead of focusing on the inevitable mishaps and toe stubs that may occur (my number 1 brain fog move - ughhh), take this time to explore your creativity! Break out the paints, make a festive wreath, bake some pumpkin bread â just enjoy yourself. If you make a mistake, who cares! You're doing this just for yourself so leave that toxic perfectionism at the door.Â
Light up something inspiring! If you're in the Spooky Season mood, light up the Morticia ⢠Black Rose & Thorns Votive Candle for it's notes of dewy rose and plush peony. If florals aren't your thing, our Willow ⢠Palo Santo Tall Votive Candle has been known to get those creative vibes going with notes of magical palo santo and soft, resinous woods.Â
]]>There are many rituals used to celebrate the Autumnal Equinox, here are some of our favorites:
With day and night on equal footing we are urged to find balance within ourselves. Light a candle with a well rounded, soothing scent blend and spend sometime in quiet meditation with a focus on finding balance. We are using our Willow ⢠Palo Santo Tall Votive Candle for this. Bright notes of citrus-y Palo Santo are mellowed with soft, smoky woods.Â
Â
Traditionally thanks were given to Mother Earth for a fruitful harvest in hopes that it would last through the winter months. In today's times, we are reminded to give gratitude for all that we have. Taking inspiration from apple harvests, we will be lighting our juicy red apple blend, the Elvira ⢠Poison Apple Votive Candle, and making a list of all that we are grateful for. This is a great list to keep as a reminder as the days grow shorter and colder.
Take time to slow down, unplug, and enjoy some (finally) cooler weather. Go to a local park, hiking trail or even your back yard. Take note of how much calmer you feel surrounded by nature. Find a small token of nature that you can bring home with you (i.e. a rock, a pinecone, an acorn, etc.). Set up an autumnal alter with a candle and your token. We're using our Hermione ⢠Cedar Thyme Classic Candle â woodsy notes of cedar, sandalwood and pine blend with herbal thyme to remind us of a New England campfire. Whenever you feel you need to reconnect with the calm energy of nature, light your candle and hold your token.Â
As we ready ourselves for the cozier months spent indoors, this is the perfect time to cleanse your home. This can be both literal and energetically. Put away summer clothes and unpack those sweaters. Hang up a festive wreath and break out some energy cleansing candles. We absolutely love to cleanse with our Stevie ⢠White Sage & Neroli Tall Votive Candle â notes of earthy sage and energizing neroli help promote positive energy and focus.Â
Many of us wait all year for the fall's nostalgic and cozy vibes. For those that want a more energetic celebration of the harvest season, throw yourself a little party! Get some seasonal snacks (apple cider donuts for us, please!), put on your favorite spooky season music or movies (check out our faves here!), and light a candle that elevates your mood. Our Morticia ⢠Rose & Thorns Votive Candle brings the party with notes of dewy rose petal, uplifting mandarin peel, and a sensual base of amber and musk.Â
Rose not your thing? Try our Sabrina ⢠Patchouli & Bergamot Tall Votive Candle â not only does this candle look perfect for a fall themed party, but with notes of zesty bergamot, blood orange, and a magical incense blend, you're transported directly to Salem on All Hallow's Eve!Â
Â
Happy Fall, Candle Coven!
