Behind The Flame: Meet The Icons Reading 5 Creepy Documentaries That I Bring Up In Every Conversation 4 minutes Next How to: Icons Costumes for Halloween

Wowowow well isn't life crazier than fiction?? We all love our classic creepies like The Shining and 28 Days Later and From Justin to Kelly, but sometimes, it's the true real life stories that can really get those shivers going. Here are my top 5 recommendations for creepy documentaries that you won't be able to stop thinking about for years to come.

1. There's Something's Wrong With Aunt Diane

A lot of us have that classic kooky aunt who's known for always drinking wine and saying THE THING (#itme). Well, Aunt Diane blows that trope out of the water. This HBO documentary tells the story of a family torn apart by the extremely bizarre and horrific actions of Diane. After leaving a family camping trip, Diane crashes her van full of children into oncoming traffic, killing everyone involved except her son. The thing is, no one knows why or how this happened, and the speculation and uncertainty only add to that terrible feeling in the pit of your stomach.

2. The Imposter

A lot changed for me between the ages of 13 and 16. I grew about 5 inches, my hair got longer, got braces, became a "woman," but overall you could tell I was the same ol' Alaina. I DEFINITELY DID NOT become a 20 something year old Spanish guy with a full Spanish accent and adult acne. And if I had...my mom DEFINITELY would've noticed. That leads me to our #2 film The Imposter, in which a 13 year old Texas boy goes missing, only to show up three years later in Spain, claiming to have been the missing boy. This one will have you second guessing who the real bad guy by Billie Eilish is.

3. Tickled

What starts off as an innocent (enough) look into the mysterious world of "competitive endurance tickling" (it's exactly like it sounds) turns into something so beyond creepy you'll wish you were just watching a totally normal, not alarming at all endurance tickling competition. Journalist David Farrier opens up Pandora's tickle box and unwittingly gets a huge tickle target tickled onto his back as he tries to uncover what the F in tickletown is going on! Sh*t gets so weird you will be fully inside out by the end of this doc.

4. The Keepers

Ok this is actually a docuSERIES but rules are meant to be broken and this is MY LIST! In 7 gripping episodes, The Keepers tells the story of the unsolved murder of Sister Cathy, a beloved teacher at Baltimore's Archbishop Keough High School. Her murder unveils a plethora of horrifically sinister secrets and cover-ups that will shake you to your core. It challenges how you think about institutions with not a single stain on their reputation. I mean they've never done anything wrong before ever, like the Catholic church is flawless. Anyway, cue up the final scene from Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit to watch after you finish The Keepers so you can sleep peacefully.

5. Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father

Ok full discloshe I have not actually seen this movie but Jocelyn has and she has explained it to me in vivid detail and she went to acting school so it was basically a Broadway play version, and MAN was it depressing! This movie is #1 on basically every list of most the horrifying things to ever happen, so if that doesn't sell you I don't know what will. In this doc, a man memorializes his friend for his future son after he's murdered by his ex-girlfriend. That's already so terrible, but according to Jocelyn and everyone on the internet, it gets so much worse that you might have to take the next few days off of work. Dear Zachary takes your heart out of your chest, smashes it, then throws it right off a cliff. Wow why do we watch this stuff im having an existential crisis.
