Blanche • Bubble Bath

I’m off to take a long, hot bath (with just enough water to cover my ample bosoms) before my date with the most sophisticated & charming, rich & handsome man. He’ll be screaming Blanche after he smells my bubble bath—made with the finest fresh citrus, rosewater, and wild jasmine. I'll finish off with a spritz of Lily of the Valley eau de parfum—then I’ll finish off my date.

Dorothy • Orange Marmalade

Every morning I hold a mirror under Ma's nose. If it fogs up, I'll start breakfast. Two slices of toast topped with Florida's finest orange marmalade. Blood orange, orange blossom and a few berries make it perfectly balanced. Flowers from Stan sit at the kitchen table. A bouquet of white freesia, what am I, a virgin bride? That ship sailed when I showed up 3 months pregnant to our wedding 38 years ago. I can't believe I gave him the best years of my thighs.

Rose • Cheesecake

Back in St. Olaf the dairy farms produce the best cream cheese. When we run out of Sverhoeven Crispies, we use the cream cheese to make homemade cheesecake. Most people in St. Olaf won't eat store bought cakes. We add some lime zest, a little rose absolute, vanilla, and a brown butter crust – it's just delcious! Like we say in St. Olaf, life without cheesecake is like St. Sigmund's Day without the headless boy.

Sophia • Italian Cookie

Picture it, Sicily 1922. Sweet almond meets red cherry. There's an instant attraction. They laugh, they sing. Almond spends his last lira on bouquets of rose and jasmine. Cherry bakes her famous amaretti cookies. Her father forbids the union as Almond is a penniless artist. He leaves for war, never to be seen again. Cherry has Almond's secret baby, she names her Cookie. They move to the New World and settle in Miami, Florida.
