1.Ā Bodkin on Netflix

I feel like Netflix has been showing this title on their loading screen for ages, and Iā€™m ngl, the name did not entice me. But when the show finally dropped and the description entailed Ireland and a true crime podcast, I was pretty jazzed. Basically, Gilbert (Will Forte, whomst we love) and his assistant Emmy (the very fun Robyn Cara) head to idyllic Bodkin to investigate a 20 year old disappearance case of 3 people. The duo is reluctantly joined by ā€œrealā€ journalist and Irish native, Dove (SiobhĆ”n Cullen), who is running from her own demons. Dove is also a HUGE bitch, which I just love. The recipe for this show shouldā€™ve yielded something perfect, but it was only just a solid ā€œgood.ā€ While I enjoyed the overall tone and performances, I thought the show was more convoluted than necessary. We have spent A LOT of time on the BritBoxes and AcornTVs of the world and know great Celtic/Anglo true crime thrillers when we see one. There are plenty of great ones with formidable leading ladies: Happy Valley, Marcella, Unforgotten - the list goes on and on. I think these shows do a way better job with the true crime of it all. It just kind of lost me towards the end, and I found myself waiting for it to just be over. The show, however, did do a fantastic job of showing just how incompetent someone like Gilbert really is, which was pretty satisfying I must say.

2.Ā Abigail on Amazon

Never heard of this movie, not a single PEEP. Yet here we are with Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey, The Guest), Melissa Barrera (Scream), Kathryn Newton (Freaky, Lisa Frankenstein) and Angus Cloud (RIP). Where did this come from?? Well regardless, we watched it, and we liked it! In it, a group of petty criminals kidnap a 12 year old girl in an attempt to get a ransom payment from her powerful father. They hold her in an isolated mansion when they discover something horrifying about their prisoner. What a fun premise! And the movie delivers! I was entertained the entire time! I love it when this happens, what a pleasant surprise! Highly recommend this one!

3.Ā Love Undercover on Peacock

Ok this show is RIGHT up our alley, like more than I could even imagine. So 5 rich and famous footballers (ya know, SOCCER PLAYERS) from around the world (everywhere BUT North America basically) go undercover as regular degular guys and date several THOTs (with love) in Los Angeles. These women think theyā€™re dating ad salesmen and construction workers, when IRL these guys are treated like gods in Europe and only wear $50K watches. They only reveal their true identities when a woman is sent home or decides to leave. After a few opening mixers and dates, the guys choose whomstever theyā€™d like to move into their LA penthouse. There are only like 5 episodes of this show out right now, but so far so good! Itā€™s like Joe Millionaire (REMEMBER THAT) meetsā€¦Celebs Go Dating I guess? Itā€™s not that deep you guys, just watch it.
